He guided the Hobbits to Weathertop, where the camped for the night. On September 30, the Hobbits departed Bree accompanied by Aragorn. Barliman Butterbur bought them a new pony named Bill in payment of their loss. He warned them of those who hunted them, the Nine Nazgul. The strange man introduced himself as Strider. ![]() He was scolded, but nevertheless, the evil Southerners got ahold of the information they needed to report to the Nazgul.įrodo noticed Aragorn staring at him. They socialized with local Breelanders and Pippin accidentally gave away Frodo's true identity. In Bree, the Hobbits booked a room at the Prancing Pony on September 29. Pippin named his " Troll's Bane" later on. Before they left, they were each given an ancient sword of Arnor. Tom Bombadil saved them on September 29 and sent them to Bree. In the morning, the Hobbits travelled through the Barrow-downs, where they were captured by a Barrow-wight. He let the Hobbits stay the night at his house. ![]() They were freed by Tom Bombadil, master of the forest. At the eastern borders, the companions were attacked by Old Man Willow and Pippin and Merry were imprisoned in his trunk. Merry led the companions into the Old Forest on September 26. He agreed, and they left the Shire the next morning. At Frodo's new house, Pippin and Merry revealed their knowledge of the quest and how they wanted to come with Frodo. The four Hobbits rode across the Brandywine River to Crickhollow. The farmer rode the Hobbits to Buckland, where they were met by Merry. Farmer Maggot took them in for supper and warned Frodo of the Nazgul that confronted him earlier that day. On September 25, the Hobbits reached Bamfurlong in the Marish. He was attracted to the Ring that Frodo owned, but was scared off by Gildor Inglorion, an Elf who supplied the Hobbits with food and warned them to stay off the rode. In the woods of Woody End, they hid from the Nazgul named Khamul. On September 23, 3018, the three companions set out from Bag End. In September, Pippin and Sam were chosen to accompany Frodo to Crickhollow, the village in which Frodo had purchased a new house. In April of 3018, Gandalf told Frodo the horrible history of his magic Ring and Frodo immediately realized that he needed to take it far away from his beloved Shire. It was, in fact, the One Ring of Sauron which Frodo possessed. The friends were determined to find out what it was. In the years between 30, it was apparent to Pippin, Merry, and Sam Gamgee that their friend Frodo was worried or upset about something and was no longer happy in the Shire. ![]() Pippin was also great friends with Frodo Baggins, who was also his cousin and the heir of Bilbo Baggins of Bag End in Hobbiton. They played many games and tricks on others and were often considered uncontrollable rascals. Pippin was great friends with Merry Brandybuck, who was also his cousin. They lived in the Great Smials in Tuckborough, the main village of Tookland. He was the son of Paladin Took II, Thain of the Shire, and his wife Eglantine Banks Took. Peregrin Took was born in 2990 of the Third Age. Pippin succeeded in defending Gondor well and saved his friend Merry during the Battle of the Pelennor Fields and became a mighty knight of Gondor. Pippin joined the Fellowship at age twenty-eight, meaning he was still in his tweens. Peregrin, more commonly known as Pippin, was a Hobbit of the Shire who was a loyal friend to Frodo throughout the Fellowship of the Ring.
